Buses from Campo Grande and Sete Rios reach Mafra in about an hour and Óbidos in around 75 minutes. A car only pays off if you are touring the Serra da Arrábida, Setúbal and the Costa da Caparica, where services are sparse. If you do hire one, pick it up on the day you leave the city, not on arrival.
